Kristian Kragelund

Kristian Kragelund (b. 1987, Denmark) lives and works in East London. Kragelund concerns himself with the objecthood of painting and the historical resonance of sculptural materiality. Through a weave of formalist and conceptual painting, the utilization of oxidization techniques and by appropriation of new and recycled industrial materials, he poses critical questions regarding the social and discursive histories of Western modernity.

Kragelund has exhibited at galleries internationally including, Modern Art Oxford, Kunsthal Aarhus, Bjorn Gundorph, Pratt Institute, Galleri Jacob Bjorn, Galleri Tom Christoffersen, Encounter Contemporary, IMT Gallery, LAMB Arts, Display Gallery, Edge Projects, Plum Blossoms Gallery, Schwartz Gallery. His work is represented in numerous public and private collections internationally including the Danish Art Council, Celine Foundation. In January 2020, Kragelund’s first permanent public art installation and largest work to date ‘The Bells of Whitechapel’ will be revealed in London.
